Truscott Street Public School provides a caring and safe educational environment where children can learn and develop as individuals.
It's a local, community school where lifelong friendships are made and learning for life is paramount. Within each student, the school instils pride in individual accomplishments and strong self-esteem.
We take pride in our school motto Quod Potui Perfeci or Always do your Best. ***** Our students have excelled this year in many areas.
Our NAPLAN analysis indicates that in each strand, we have more students in the top band in Year 3 and Year 5 than expected when compared to results across the state. Many of these students are being extended in gifted and talented programs both within and outside the school.
Our students in the lower bands continue to be provided with additional, individualised learning programs with personnel employed by the school as well as specialist programs run by committed, trained parents and practitioners from outside the school. In addition to our 12 mainstream classes, we provide three small classes for students with significant physical, intellectual or multiple disabilities.
These 'support unit' classes are an integral feature of the school and the students in them are much sought after playmates come lunchtime. ***** We have a proud history of success.
Our junior soccer team are 2010 premiers! Our students have also received accolades from those external to the school in: spelling, maths, citizenship, art, dance, athletics, swimming, netball, golf, cricket, AFL, choir, music, foreign language learning and public speaking. ***** Truscott Street has outstanding facilities and is well resourced.
Our large classrooms are state of the art, with air-conditioning, a pod of computers and interactive white boards from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our library is modern and well-equipped for research and reading recreation.
Video-conferencing facilities bring the world outside into our state-of-the-art learning common. ***** Our teachers are fully qualified, many with post-graduate degrees.
They are experts in their field, maintaining high professional standards through ongoing professional development. They are experienced, dedicated, caring and innovative.
Underlying all academic curriculum are effective student support and discipline programs that develop individual and social responsibility. ***** In a recent survey of all parents, 100% reported that they felt welcomed in the school.
Students, parents, teachers and the wider community work together as a team to create optimal learning at our school. In the same survey, 100% of parents also concurred that meetings with teachers or the principal could be arranged at any time they thought necessary.
***** Our Kindergarten orientation program Homelink is held over four mornings in November. An enrolment by May 2011 will ensure a place for 2012.
